Glossary for Chapter 5

Arrow nocked: A verbal expression indicating the moment of truth.

Leader-rank: Status/ability befitting of a leader.

Kiddypop: Nonsense/childish talk.

Standard quota of five: Five mugs of mead/ale. A direct reference to the military standards.

Nut drunk loco: Drunk beyond control.

Talk(ing) out of sense: Talking nonsense.

Until the rooster crows thrice: Until the end of the day/session. A direct parallel to Jesus' prophecy on Peter's imminent denial.

Double confirmed: Confirmed without any doubts.

(Being) Gifted with too much drink: Having drunk too much alcohol.

Put two and two together and get(ting) a four: Arriving at the correct answer under most simple circumstances.

Brawl or bawl: A taunting expression usually said before a brawl.

Smallborne: Civilians. (Used in conjunction with any member of nobility, third person or otherwise)

Bailed for good: Bailed out without the risk of being charged.

Bailor: A person in-charge of bailing paperwork.

Maistress: A formal title refering to a female member of nobility.

Give a soldier's bow: A verbal expression of thanks. (Used within the militaryman's context)

Causacean: The Known World's parallel of the Caucasian race.
